Hataw! Roxas!

A sign greets you as you enter the City which is sublimed by the abundance of its seafood industry. As I always think of "Alimango" (Crab) when hearing the word "Roxas".

Indeed our host prepared a bountiful meal with their famous Alimango, Lukon (prawn), grilled bangus (milkfish), etc. I so loved it... I almost consumed a kilo of Lukon... hehehe...

We were billeted at San Antonio Resort. I so loved their Lake Houses where you have a terrace at the rim of a boating lake. They have a two-tiered swimming pool, bowling lanes, dart gallery, coffee shop, and a beach front bar... the SandBar. Had a nice rest there.

Roxas City is a very fast developing city and is now spreading its shopping district to the city's outskirts. You can go shopping to the big mall, go have fun to the nite district at the bay side, and the airport is so near to its city proper. Mar Roxas's mansion is so prominent not to notice when you approach the boulevard. And I so love the bridge right in the middle of the City that you can view everything across.

We went to the port side where we were owed by the many "Bulad" (dried Fish) vendors... where you could find all kinds of dried fish... I bought some of my favorites like squid flakes, fish tocino, and squid rings.

Oh well, an overnight stay in this city isn't enough to a Lagawan (Stroller) like me, so looking forward to the next time i'll have the opportunity to set foot to this city.

Boracay Chill

Oh Boracay! I'm in paradise! Thats the phrase I misssed in my mind when I keep returning to the Island... A thought that I wish the first timers that reaches the island will still have until now.

A virgin island, with native cottages, lamps and clean long beach was Boracay before. All businesses are limited only to a maximum of 50 watts bulb. The native the look of all cottages was preferred. Even disco pubs uses only "Sulu" (torch) to light the dance floor. Laughters are heard across the long white beach, and a clear view of the horizon as the sun deeps to the ocean.

That was 1988, when I first came and experience Boracay... A truly island paradise. Simplicity of talipapa where you can get the fresh catch at a good price. Song by the island "tumandok"s abounds through out the island as they sing their folk songs with voice so angelic. Oh I so love this place.

But sad to say that was now just the past. I pity those who came late, because they cant experience the island the way i experience before. They surely be more blessed by her.

Now, Boracay is still a tourist hub, a market place, and looks like your in Malate or Ermita. Giant lighted Billboards, florecent business signs, motorboats blocks the beach view, and loud videokes everywhere. You could find sellers of everything that almost be considered a tenant of the long beach walk way.

Oh Boracay... I pity you. If only you were been preserved well, you should have been a "JEWEL to the World".
